A good friend seen Humble Pie at their last show with this line up. Told me they're the greatest live blues band ever. Steve Marriott (R.I.P) was "It" and Gregg Ridley (R.I.P) had voices that were like pure gold.

Oh no, RUclips, not again. You damn well know I can't handle this. It does not even make sense calling this good or great, it's much deeper than that. It exposes every ounce of melancholy, longing or lost opportunity you thought you had under control and normally do. At least that's how I fell. And I fall apart...

Some unknown better than PR? Impossible although Koss might've still had bitterness from the break-up. His drug addiction was another problem. Still, can honestly state his massive legacy on guitar (especially unique vibrato) is unquestionable. At least before this strange interview. Free ruled during their heyday!

I wonder what Paul thought of Robert at this point. They had grown up around each other, obviously Plants vocal talent would have been obvious to everyone around. Paul is a great singer, but anyone next to Plant looks a little smaller. To be expecting the Plant he was used to and to hear this must have been surprising. Robert used to be able to sing circles around Paul and Paul can sing circles around almost anyone. Quiet a reversal of fortunes, I always wonder how Plant the people around him handled the enfeeblement of his voice.

Listening to the interview again (first when it went out and then a few times over the years from various sources) I think we should take it for what it is. A hero of ours who was, like all of us, a flawed human being. Unfortunately, his flaws were more lethal than ours. People here are trying to whitewash him and say it was because he was recovering from a heart attack. Please! We have all known people in that predicament and this is NOT a symptom of recovery from a heart attack or surgery. We know what his weakness was. The fact that he had a weakness does not change a thing he did that made us love him. All the work is there and will be forever. There are people angry at the BBC and at kindly Bob Harris too, for God's sake! The OGWT was probably the most laid back, least exploitative TV show ever. Do you think if they were desperate for headlines or viewers they would have had Greenslade and Judee Sill on? Like me, they saw him as a brilliant musician who deserved to have his voice heard alongside his work and obviously didn't realise how close he was to death. May Paul rest in peace in the knowledge that he will be remembered as long as Da Vinci, Shakespeare and Aristotle.
